Channel: Octocat Supply Launch 🚀 Thread: Launch week — final bits
Priya Nair (PM) · 09:14 Morning all — 11 days to launch 😅 Pulling together the final "what absolutely has to be in" list. If it's on your mind and it's not written down somewhere, drop it here so it doesn't get lost.
Marcus Bell (Marketing) · 09:18 Big one from our side: we're running a launch campaign and the whole thing hangs off a discount offer. Newsletter's already drafted, socials are teed up. People will be arriving with an offer expecting to use it.
Marcus Bell (Marketing) · 09:19 We've been saying "enter your code at checkout" in the creative. So… that needs to be a thing people can actually do 🙈
Priya Nair (PM) · 09:21 Noted. Marcus can you make sure the exact wording of the offer lands with us and not just in the newsletter tool? We keep finding out about promises after the fact.
Marcus Bell (Marketing) · 09:22 Fair. Will do.
Dan Okonkwo (Sales) · 09:26 Related — I've got a large branch account (Ferndale, big first order) that was promised a code during the deal. They're expecting it to work on day one. I don't want to be the one telling them it doesn't 😬
Dan Okonkwo (Sales) · 09:27 Also they asked (again) about seeing their past orders in one place. I know that's already on the backlog, just flagging the customer keeps raising it.
Priya Nair (PM) · 09:29 Order history is tracked already, yep — separate thread. Let's keep this one on launch-blockers.
Sofia Ramos (Support) · 09:41 From the support side: we're already getting "where do I enter my discount code?" tickets and we haven't even launched the campaign 🤔 people saw the teaser and went looking. Right now there's just… nowhere to put it. The cart goes straight to totals.
Sofia Ramos (Support) · 09:42 Handful of the usual "how do I pay" ones too but that's the payment work you already know about.
Priya Nair (PM) · 09:44 Ok so the theme I'm hearing: customers will show up with a code, and today the checkout has no concept of one at all. Marketing needs it, sales promised it, support is already fielding it.
Ivan Petrov (Dev) · 09:52 Reading back — from the app's side there's genuinely no notion of a code today. Cart adds up line items and that's the total, full stop. Whatever we decide, the total has to be able to change based on something the customer types in, and we'd need to reject the ones that aren't valid / have expired so people can't just make them up.
Ivan Petrov (Dev) · 09:53 Not saying how to build it here, just flagging it's net-new behaviour, not a tweak to something existing.
Dan Okonkwo (Sales) · 09:55 And please can invalid ones fail clearly. Last thing I need is Ferndale typing their code, nothing happening, and them assuming we lied to them.
Priya Nair (PM) · 09:58 Good input all. I'll write the launch-priorities note up properly and send it round so this isn't just buried in chat. Someone on the hack team can take the raw need and shape it into something we can actually put on the board.
Marcus Bell (Marketing) · 10:01 🙌
Sofia Ramos (Support) · 10:03 One more unrelated thing while I have you — a few customers keep asking where their delivery is once an order's placed. Not launch-blocking, I think it's already planned, just noting the volume.
Priya Nair (PM) · 10:04 Yep, delivery tracking's on the backlog already. Parking it. Thanks all 🙏
